A mandate is a role that will be assigned to a person with a election.
There are mandates internal, these mainly refer to committee positions, but when we talk about mandates we will more generally refer to mandates external.
External mandates correspond to the different places we are entitled to in the bodies. There are a good twenty bodies for which we elect the people who will sit there. There are most often several seats per mandate in addition to substitute places. A group of people elected to the same mandate is called a delegation.
There are quite a few people to elect, so don't hesitate to put yourself forward for one or the other. The workload and time required can vary greatly from one mandate to another, some will consist of only one or two meetings a year, others will be more monthly and may require more involvement.
It is with the help of these mandates that we have the opportunity to defend student rights at all levels of decision in the University.
You can find more info in the mandate guide.
The positions of the AGL are defined by what are called the "position papers". This is a text approved by the Council in which there is a description of the situation on which we wish to obtain a positioning and which concludes with a clear summary of the positions.
This document is generally developed in committee or in a working group (WG) but can be proposed by anyone, even without being a member of the AGL. The text then goes before the Council for approval where it can still be adjusted with amendments.
Having a defined position on a given subject allows a delegation to speak on behalf of the AGL in instances or before authorities. It also allows a representative to speak when questioned by the press.
Position papers can be reviewed or revoked at any time by the Council.
You can find here the various position papers approved by the Council.
